IES gets official permit for the Caestert Quarry

The project group "Caestert" of the IES is happy to announce that the owner of the Caestert Quarry (Region Wallon) has granted the institute an official research permit to enter and work inside the quarry. The permit is valid until 31.12.09
The research that is currently being executed inside the quarry and at the surface focuses on trying to obtain an overview of the medieval industry by also studying the relics of ancient mining activity at the surface. After this project is finished, the IES will report the result to the Region Wallon. It will also publish a book which will be available on sale.
